Anchorage

Anchorage is by far the largest city in Alaska. 300 000 inhabitants live there. It is almost 40% of the entire Alaska population. Besides Fairbanks Anchorage is another unofficial capital, an important transport hub and a major port. You will not find typical Alaskan romance here. The city is full of skyscrapers, shopping malls, fast food restaurants, office areas, accommodation facilities and various institutions and museums.

But you are not so far away from the beautiful countryside. The city is surrounded by the Chugach Mountains and personal meeting with moose or bear crossing the road is common.
