Beautiful town and also harbor is located in Katchemak Bay. The bay is surrounded by magnificent Grenwick glacier. An important point in this harbor is a place called - Homer Spit. It is 7 km long continental promontory covered with gravel and sand. Spit was created by sea activities and continual establishment of silt at high tide. Spit was subsequently reinforced and also road was built. Nowadays it is the end of Sterling Highway. Along both sides of the road are beautiful houses, shops souvenir shops, restaurants, exhibition halls. There is also a winter stadium. Houses stand on high feet here. It is an important protection from waves.
