The official name reads Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) but its residents would welcome you in Saigon. HCMC is the centre of trade and finance of Vietnam. The area of over 2000 km2 is inhabited by more than 7 million people.
The city offers everything you would expect from a metropolis: a large number of boutiques, multipurpose buildings, office blocks, cultural halls, etc. You may find both old treelined streets reminiscent of the Frech colonialists’ era, and a modern big city. The Ho Chi Minh War Remnants Museum – don’t miss out on the visit of this museum; an emotional experience awaits you. You will learn more about the progress and chiefly about the consequences of the American war. The exhibition also includes a display of the used military hardware.
Among other places of interest surely are the Reunion Palace, Chinatown (Cho Lon) with the Thien Hau Pagoda; Ben Thanh – the biggest market in Saigon.
